about me
I have been taking photos ever since I could get my grubby little hands on a camera. I got my first one when I was 8 years old and took hundreds of pictures of my stuffed animals. In high school, there was a scheduling conflict that landed me in Photography despite it not even being my second or third choice. Luckily I loved it and the rest is history. I have a B.A. from Hood College in Art and Archaeology, Concentrations in Art History and Studio Arts with a focus in Photography, and a minor in Film Studies, cum laude.
I like long walks on the beach.
Artist Statement
I take photographs of any and everything that catches my eye. Something that captures my attention, even for a brief moment, has beauty and is worthy of being photographed. During my travels, I take a landscape of a certain place and then venture deep to take detail shots within that larger landscape. I do this in order to give the viewer a full experience of the place without having to actually be there. I want to show the world how I see it, because even in the mundane there is beauty. With portraiture, I capture the essence of the person, the character they are portraying, or aesthetic of the person. People are a reflection of everything they’ve experienced, and understanding the emotion of the human form through photography is vital to my work. Photography is a way to let the world express itself and have those fleeting moments caught in time through my camera lens.
